i wish i had the gift of words... expressing profound thoughts into profound blogs. yep. definitely not blessed with that. :( apologies.
my classes are feeling quite the lonely these days... about 1/2 of my students are leaving for about 2 weeks to go back home to "recruit" and get more students to come to the university... apparently it happens at most private universities here and my poor students have a LOT of pressure to go back home and "make some dough" for the school... i'm just thankful that not ALL of them are gone and they are coming back.. and so will in the fall!
i've been havin lots of "hope" conversations with students lately.. last week during English corner, talking with a student after class... it's on their mind a lot but all their hope is built upon things that do not last and fail... please continue to ask for more opportunities to share with them about the true hope that never fails!!
something random- i'm talking about american education and sports this week... then i wrote "nike" on the board and asked them to say it. they all said together in a chorus "nike! (like mike)"... amazing! haha when i informed them of the correct pronunciation of the word, they were completely blown away! lol... so yea.. if you ever hear a chinese person say "nike (like mike)" they mean... Nike.
leavin on a fast train this weekend for shanghai with amy and traveling with 2 of my teammates and some other students.. should be an exciting weekend to see a new "modern" part of china. i think i will be in for some major culture shock perhaps. yikes... hm.. this will be my 7th trip this year in china- i think that's more than i travel in America...for sure!
