almost the end of blogger...

dear blog readers-

sorry it's been a while since i've last updated.. i've been meaning to BUT blogger has just been blocked.. along with other websites like youtube and such here.. so you might be wondering.. how on earth am i able to update this?? great question. thanks to technology there's ways to work around it and for that i'm thankful!

a lot can happen in a week and even a day in china.. in one day we found out that our finals that we are suppose to give in 4 weeks are now due NEXT week- so that's fun. pretty much we'll be done at the end of may with grades and all and freeeee the month of june!! i think it's a blessing in disguise because that means we get to hang out more with students and have more catalytic/redeeming events with them :) woot.

oh, our "spring dance" was a few weekends ago but it was great and sweaty! (remember, this is the FIRST dance for our young college students... dances don't exist here) at first, it was like an awkward junior high dance where everyone stood off to the sides... but then they warmed up hehe.. a few of the crowd favorites were: the hokey pokey, electric slide, power jam, macarena, and chicken dance ;) here's one of my favorite videos of a friend doing the macarena.. she's precious. hehe

more students doing the macarena... so good. :)

after the dance my roomie and some students went to eat dinner at this "deep fry everything stand" with a sweet lady... it was me and shannon's first time eating it but it was pretty delish! here's a picture and of what the food is like :)

happy mommy's day!!

so..i realize most of my blog readers are not mothers- but some are and i wish you a sweet and happy mothers day :) being a mother is a tough tough job. i don't know from experience but i can feel it. haha this might be my first mothers day away from my mother- as every other holiday from this past year.. but this blog is dedicated to my mom...

hi mommy,
i made you a video and you might want dad to translate it.. it's my great attempt at speaking chinese. as you can see i still have not perfected chinese, just yet. hehe i miss you, i love you, and i'm thankful to have a mother like you!! hope you like the video (that frances helped me make hehe) and sorry ahead of time for the cheesy-ness and my poor chinese! see you in 50 days!! <3 hugs and kisses!!
xoxo, baby jodi

**translation in a nut shell for you non-chinese speakers: dear mom, i love you... you are.. you are the best mom and you are great! i like your cooking, your hugs, your craziness, and your love for others... happy mothers day! i love your mother! (that was an accident haha) hand motions and trying to the tones down body language is also included.
