hui and i with our matching chinese shirts :D
the white uniform is quite.. not flattering. haha i guess that's the point.
so teaching 7 introduction lessons (6 being the SAME exact lesson) is interesting... thankfully so far no class has been the EXACT same and each has their own personality and distinct individuals!
to get to know my new students and suck out information from them... i have them create a name card with their name and a bunch of other goodies.
-Full English name
-Chinese name in pin yin
-student ID #
-phone #
-a goal they have for the class/why are they here?
-something interesting about them
-a question they have for me
here's a few that stood out from the crowds...
why are you here:
-"i don't know why i am here"
-"i want to get a higher income"
-"i have to"
-(the majority said) "i want to improve my English"
interesting fact:
-"i always try to make trouble to myself and then to solve them."
-"i like watching english films and i want to be a masculine man"
-"english song is hard for me, so please don't let me sing" (i told them they might have to sing an english song if they are late.. haha)
-"i'm always sleeping when listening to english, and i hope to change it!"
questions (or statements) 4 me:
"do you think the God is really exist?"
"i want to know more about American clean tooth 3 times a day"
"why do you always smile?"
"hi, i'm glad to know you. you look like my friend. she's from nanchang and her English is very good. you're lively both and like smile" (ooo i have a nanchang twin!)
-"which belief do you have?"
-"i don't want to have English name, can I? it sounds uncomfortable" (i told them they need to have one because i can't remember their chinese name! haha)
-"are you afraid of cold? this winter, maybe you'll have an AMAZING!"
-"i'm eager to taste sth (something) cooked by the woman who is ABC (american born chinese), can i?" (CREEPY)
and i like this one a lot...
-"why did you learn English?" :)
