happiness and sorrows...

never knew that was a chinglish phrase, let alone a common phrase, until i came to china! my students like to say that... share the happiness and sorrows... feel happiness and sorrows... so i guess this week i decided it's called "happiness and sorrows"

the happinesses of china this week:
-successful french bread making with cindy :)
-having my students read the verses about love out loud and hearing their thoughts about it :)
-hearing classic christmas songs in walmart in chinese and english about the birth of our king! so cool!
-students singing "from this moment" by shania twain in class.. they love to sing!
-encouraging and interesting emails from my students (ex. "I think your pronunciation seems very beautiful and comfortable."... i don't think anyone has ever told me that before in america ;) haha)

the sorrows of china this week:
-another terrible hour long experience at the bank with language barrier problems left and right! :(
-the feelings of "exhausted-how-am-i-possibly-going-to-be-able-to-teach" today?? only by his strength i can!
-realizing this will be my 2nd year in a row away from home- especially for the holidays :(
-relationships not going as i expected or hoped

a picture or two for your life (eating with a few of my old juniors and cindy using a knife/fork for the first time :) i like them.)
