today was my first day at a doggy beach in my hometown... (i didn't know until this week that my hometown even had a beach!! but that's a different story haha) anyways for my friend's birthday we went with her dog and i was quite surprised by it all! everything was overwhelming: the different kinds of dogs (doberman pinchers, pit bulls, taco bell dogs, labs, dalmatian-st. bernard mix, etc), the way people interacted with dogs like their children, the interesting toys and gadgets they had for their dogs (a "chuck it"- you chuck it to throw the ball, a doggy life jacket, a doggy backpack, water holders, and more!), and dedication and love they had for them too (some people go to the doggy beach everyday for their dogs! wow!)... it was quite a culture shock experience.
i'm not a dog hater but i'm not a sold out dog lover either. it's interesting to think that some dogs in america are treated 100x's better than a lot of people in the world ... it's actually kinda sad, especially since i've lived in another country for so long to witness it. dogs are great pets and animals, but they are animals. may we embrace people more than animals and invest in souls that are eternal and maybe not so much on doggy life jackets...

a million times agreed!! did you know that the amount of money americans spend on their pets every year could provide everyone in the world with food and water for a year? love you and your insights!
haha. yah, i THOUGHT you were not a dog lovver... i know ide isn't (hahaha). =) and yah, it does bother me sometimes that americans treat their pets better than they treat PEOPLE... :sigh:
