snowless december

(almost sounds like "it's no less decemeber" haha)

took a random picture the other day.. i love how a picture can reflect a lot of things about a culture and life.

this picture may look a little strange to a foreigner and totally ordinary to a chinese person...

here's some observations i made about it:
1. it's WELL into december and there's NO snow in harbin!! (a few flurries have visited but then quickly disappeared!) it's as if there was snow in hawaii... unheard of!
2. two boys matching... it's totally okay! :D not only do girl friends and couples match but apparently boys can too!! i can imagine they went shopping together and got it for a better price hehe
3. two boys holding one bag... sharing the burden and working together is part of this collectivist culture and very appropriate, especially if it's a heavy bag!
4. those green things... pretty sure i posted about them before but they're still there. i wouldn't be surprised if they stay that way forever and still the public wouldn't know what's inside
5. tall buildings... everywhere. there's only one or two places that i've seen in the city with a building that is one story high. very different than america!
