holiday highlights

the past four days i had the opportunity and time (thank you may holiday!) to travel to beijing and qinhuangdao with my friend ruthy! this was ruthy's first time truly traveling in china (other than an airport delay) and it was a pretty good variety of "modern-historical-america like China" and "country-spacious-party town China" haha... we met up with samson, his brother, friend, dad, and other friends along the way... there's about 149 pictures but here's a few of my favorite ones/holiday highlights from the trip- enjoy!

wangfujing street in beijing has a ton of goodies to eat on a stick (once they deep fry it for you).. so many choices to choose from: starfish, lizards, snails, scorpions, worms... what would YOU eat if you had to eat one?? the guys tried the starfish and king size scorpions.. i, on the other hand, chickened out!

ruthy and i spotted something very interesting on the subway that you would never see happen in america... but it didn't phase anyone else in china except us! look closely.. look very closely at the the placement of the legs of these two friends. hehe

samson's friend, stephen, gave us a nice speech (quoted from the movie, the braveheart) on a camel.. at the great wall of course. :)

qinhuangdao gets an A+ when it comes to snack street, outdoor food sitting, and lots of CHINA. it might of been the dirtiest street in china as far as trash goes but the food was tasty and the fellowship was great :)

we got to hit the beach... nothing like the ocean breeze, sand in the toes, and sunshine- in china!! it's no hawaiian beach but it will do :) hopefully next time it will be warmer and sunnier so i can actually get a tan for once too hehe..

wish there were more holidays in china to travel and play! ...looking forward to cinco de mayo- my texas teammate will be making sopapillas! whatever that is.. it sounds great! :D
