Beginning Days in the Cooler Furnace City

(disclaimer: blogger, youtube, facebook, etc actually doesn't work in china.. i have some intel on the other side of the ocean that is helping me update my blog ;) so for future reference... the best way to contact me is via email and skype- sank you!)

my city is often known as being "the furnace" city with intense humidity, where somedays the weather feels like 124 degrees fahrenheit! a student emailed me a week ago and told me that the weather will be cooler so i must wear more clothes or i will catch a cold... that didn't seem very likely, considering that the furnace city is ALWAYS hot and ridiculous sweat filled. :) anyways.. my student proved me wrong and the weather is strangely colder, muggier, and windier than normal.. like 70. amazing! i'm thankful and not complaining by any means :)

aside from the weather.. it's very interesting being back so early in the school year.. last year we came to blue sky a bit later due to the inconvenience of the olympics in beijing.. apparently ALL freshman in every university in china must do "military training" for a couple weeks in the beginning of semester... "military training" is like a boot camp at school... thousands of small chinese people in army-like uniform attire shouting together in unison, moving together in unison, singing communist chants and cheers together in unison... everything in unison! haha.. they would make great soldiers for the true king one day!

i'll try to post more random stories and such as they come :) thanks for tuning in! oh, and some pictures for a better visual effect hehe...

students in their military training attire... be afraid, be very afraid ;)

nothing like good chinese intersection... completely organized chaos hehe

can you find the foreigner in this massive crushing crowd at the train station? hehe
