for one- our typical morning route from the old campus to the new has been blockaded because they're making a new bridge (still not sure how that works)that will take about another year and half... but now the detour is a 2 way beautiful decrepit road with awfully amazing speed bumps that semi trucks, public buses, private school buses, mien bao (bread vans), bikes, motorbikes, and other vehicles of a similiar consistency must somehow travel through without killing each other. it's quite the inconvenience of daily travel, adding about 5.6 minutes to our commute- the Father knew it was just TOO easy before and needed to spice things up. :) (check out laura's blog "from the midwest to the far east" for my pictures of what the new route looks like!)
for two(?)- our favorite nanchang noodle place opened a new restaurant that is sooo different than the old one- going from a tiny kitchen and limited seating lil restaurant to a huge, spacious, and beautiful restaurant! the prices went up by one kuai there, there are new cooks in the kitchen, there's a CASH register now (one of the only one's i've seen at a restaurant in the back gate!), and complicated/random ticket system that i still never figured out... but my favorite nanchang noodle family are still there although they do seem busier there and not so leisurely with their chairs outside to hang out and relax anymore. thankfully, their old place is still open... for now :)

what the heck...for three! now, i'm pretty sure i've said this before... but the weather in nanchang is TRULY changeable. no joke. just the other day it was... average and decent (meaning not too hot or cold and no rain or bursting sun or freezing winds)... but today it was incredibly humid. i forgot what it was like to be wet and almost sweating... i walked through the halls and it was wet and puddly- usually the janitors mop (with the same water from the squatty bathrooms... mmm) the halls and then they dry up but it remaind a nice shallow river throughout the day. i gave my last midterms to my junior students too and their rubric scoring sheets were soft, damp, and a little soggy.. that was fun. other than that... there's supposedly severe thunderstorms and hail (i doubt that last part) later this week! weeeee!
laura and i on a crowded, wet, sticky bus :)
