that was something a group of my friends from back home would always say, because you CHOOSE to be embarrassed or not. well, i choose not. haha thankfully, in China many things are not as strange or random as they would be in the states. for example: a man walking with his arms up in the air, two boys walking closely with their arms around the other guys' shoulder, a family of 4 on a motorbike, "different" sense of fashion for clothes (and shoes), etc...
for example, i'm almost certain that these shoes would never sell in america but they sell them and lots more like it in china! hehe (a see through fabric with diamonds and more!)
remember my bike from about 64 blog entries ago? it's not an ordinary bike, in fact, it belonged to a 9 year old boy from a family last year. i somehow inherited the vehicle and with the help of my teammate, it now looks like a bike for an 11 year old boy. haha most teachers in a university, or an person over the age 14 would probably not want to ride such a small, child like bike, but i don't mind. haha the first time i took my bike out in public i couldn't help but laugh... the whole time. haha i was just imagining how ridiculous i must have looked! i've gotten a few awkward stares from strangers and double takes of my students walking by (is that my teacher?!) but i gladly choose to not be embarrassed and just keep riding. hehe
my favorite things about this bike: it gets me from point A to point B, and it was FREE. :D
check out my ride's transformation (before and after) hehehe...
mind you, i would probably never wear socks with my crocs in america, but in china- nobody judges you. :)
