what's a fortune cookie?

today during my Chinese American culture lecture, i introduced a few popular "Chinese American" foods to them, including fortune cookies. did you know that Chinese people don't know, never heard, ate, or seen a fortune cookie before? haha amazing!!! fortune cookies are definitely a Chinese American sorta thing i guess :)

i also talked about the history, cultural differences, and my own life experience/background as a Chinese American... they asked some really good questions like:

-if girls don't hold hands with each other, how do they show their deep love and friendship to each other? (great question... we hug? haha)
-do all fortune cookies have a fortune in them? are they free? (yes and yes!! sometimes i grab a bunch when i see them in a bowl hehe)
-do all chinese americans believe in God like western people? (nope, and not all western people believe either)

the poster advertisements for all the culture lectures are especially flowery (chinese language is very flowery) and interesting- you might need to click on the picture to read it :)

here's some more pictures from the lecture today, enjoy!
